Itinerary

We start with a theoretical introduction and a small driving practise, before we take the adventure in our hands and the quads on the road.

Lonely tracks away from main traffic, in the midst of the most beautiful nature take you to a beautiful cliff path along the sea and later into the heights of Achlada.

Here we enjoy a breathtaking view over the surrounding area, before we continue to the abruptly abandoned ghost village Achlada. Find out more about the history, the traditional Cretan way of life and share a special personal moment with the last and only inhabitants of this village. Enjoy a walk through this village which is not accessible by any other means.

We continue, from the heights of Achlada, passing in between the mountains in breathtaking natural surroundings to Fodele, a traditional Cretan village, which is also called the village of the oranges and is the birthplace of the famous painter ‘El Greco’. Here you can explore Crete’s culture and marvel at its local handicrafts. Time for shopping or a visit of the museum or its orthodox churches is of course considered.

For those of you who like it relaxed there is the possibility to enjoy a fresh orange juice.

Stop At:

• Museum of El Greco, Ethniki Odos 9 2, Fodele, Crete 715 00 Greece
Activity Details
After several years of working in tourism, we wanted to do something different. We wanted to create something personal, something that takes place in small groups and is nothing like a big organised excursion.

We wanted to give people the feeling to be taken by the hand of a local and shown the most interesting places, meeting their friends and trying their products.

With Quads we are able to take you to places that are not accessible in any other way.

It is our aim to offer you experiences that are far away from tourism and we work hard to bring you close to the local people, products, customs and history, hoping to create lasting memories. We will take you to see unspoilt nature and some breathtaking views.

To us it is important to create trips that are accessible to all the family, because the best time is spent in the company of our loved ones.

This is also why our trips are organised on a half a day basis, making it a great trip even for our youngest ones.

  • Wonderful tour with in amazing tour guide who can tell you one hundred and one little interesting things about Greece and their culture.
  • iThink you Verma cz Łas very nice and joy czyż Ela advice every buddy to Dudy Safari i z one of the most famous Safari interneta french on miał wodę a ja
  • Me and my partner went on the morning half day quad safari In September 2023, we shared 1 quad bike. The whole tour was well run and we felt safe throughout. The guide STAN gave us lots of information about Greek history and the areas we visited and was very funny, he spoke fluent English and French and was very accommodating to all. We visited the Greek ghost town and a lovely little village which were both great to see. It does get very dusty so don't wear clothes you don't want to ruin and make sure you get a pitta in the village! Highly recomend The quad safari and STAN and his team are very welcoming and informative.
  • What a fantastic tour we had with Vangelis so many beautiful views and all at a nice steay pace letting us take in all the sites the quads are not what I expected they're so smooth I felt completely safe and enjoyed every minute. And would highly recommend and do it all again
  • Can't fault anything, the team are great. Stan is a straight up guy, takes the lead and knows his homeland. Really enjoyed the trip, the quads are well maintained and run sweet. No trying to rip you off with pictures at the end of the day. Does you a good deal. Top team, can't fault them. Book it you won't be dissatisfied, amazing views and feeling the hot Crete air rushing over you is great. 10/10
  • Awesome sunset, raki at the end. It’s a must do experience in Agia Pelagia/ Heraklion zone. The off road trail is very easy to do, no previous experience in trail bikes is required.
  • If you've never driven a quad before, then this is a pretty cool experience and you get to ride around for a couple hours and look at some fantastic views and scenery. But what I found lacking was a bit of customer care, politeness and consideration for paying customers. When we first arrived we were asked to test-drive a quad in the tiny carpark. Which can be a bit daunting if you've never done it before and there's not a great deal of space to maneuver in there, but obviously it makes sense to do this. Once we'd passed the test we were ushered into a tiny portacabin where our driving licenses were taken from us and scattered in a heap on a desk while the owner "Stan" took a register of names. When I approached the desk and was asked for my name the owner immediately seized the opportunity to make fun of my English accent and shout "Lady Gaga?" much to the amusement of the other tourists standing in line. I wouldn't normally mind a bit of light banter, but I'd just paid 150 quid for the hire of 2 quad bikes and had only literally just walked through the door. There were quite a few people on the tour we'd taken so it took a while to process everyone which cuts into the driving time by quite a lot and does mean a lot of standing around in the sweltering heat. Once we'd set off we were instructed to stay a minimum of 2 metres behind the quad in front of you which is not only physically impossible to do, but it also pretty dangerous and collisions were quite common from what i could see. There is a couple of stops on the tour, the first of which is the abandoned village, which as the other reviewers have also said can be a bit long and there's a lot of standing around in the Cretan sun. The second stop is to a restaurant to have a much needed drink. This is obviously a prearranged deal between the tour owner and the restaurant owner which is fair enough, but I did find the restaurant owner to be extremely rude and aggressive when he shouted at me to move my bike forward when parking outside so that i was literally touching the bike In front. You can tell he obviously doesn't own them himself or I'm sure he'd take a bit more care when you consider how much they must cost to buy. During the tour the owner does provide you with a bit of history of the local area and tells you the story regarding the abandoned village, which is quite interesting. You do find yourself sympathising with their plight when he talks about the difficulties he had with his business during COVID and the subsequent flooding of the area. Overall I enjoyed the experience of getting to drive a quad for the first time and I think the price you pay is reasonable for the time you have on the bikes. If the customer service experience could be improved somewhat this would be a much more positive review. Hopefully they'll take this onboard.
  • We are a group of 17 -ages 13 to 83 on a cruise of the Greek Islands. Excellent communication when booking Quad safari. They even arranged transportation from the port to their location for a fair fee. I was under the impression it was a private tour (since we had 9 ATVs) and based on our communication. However, there were an additional 6 ATV's on the tour. You learn how to drive them in their small parking lot. It was going to be too aggressive for the grandparents so we gave up an ATV and they rode with the guide/owner, Stan. (No refund when asked about this.) Make sure you are comfortable driving as you go fast and share the road at times with other cars, etc. After that you are on your way. Wish there was more communication on what to expect. You drive to an abandon village. Not charming or really historical. Basically walk thru pricker bushes and broken roads and listen to Stan narrate about the village and his family and the trees. Our kids were bored, it was hot - and if you talked while he was talking he would get upset. Stan was edgy and impatient. Then he took an order for gyros. Wish it would've been explained about the lunch (payment, options, etc.). We drove to the gyro shop - very good food. We were rushed here. Kids wanted ice cream etc and no time to eat it. Then we were off again on the trails. Should have stopped at a beach only saw from the trails. Overall memorable day but our group didn't really like the attitude of the owner/guide and the majority of the day spent at his families abandoned homes from 96 years ago.
  • Very fun experience, the guides are funny, entertaining and informative, they give a personal touch to the history of the village. The drive itself is very basic so if it's your first time on a quad bike you have nothing to worry about! Prepare to get dirty and don't forget sunblock! Overall would recommend if you have a couple of hours to spare, you'll get your money's worth of fun and a bit of adrenaline!
  • Slay was the best guid to make a quad safari ,very nice sunset, cool quads and cool places to see. Thanks for this trip
  • I had an amazing day with Stan who took us an a great 4 hour trip. The routes were outstanding and my sister even got to drive herself unexpectedly with the encouragement of the team. Thank you to Stan and Samer for the best experience.
  • Fantastic service. People are friendly & attentive. Experience was so good the first time we came back for a second quad experience.
  • The MOST AMAZING day out! Honestly won’t regret booking this! Beautiful views and the crew is amazing and friendly. The pit stops on the way are wonderful
  • The journey is not long, the maximum speed is 40 km/h on four-wheelers, the track is accessible by car, the owner insistently asks for 5 stars, the group is constantly photographed and fake images are made on social networks. I don't recommend it. For the same price, it is better to rent a quad bike yourself and travel independently.
  • It was a horrible experience! At the beginning of our vacation in Crete, we decided to join a quad tour together on one quad. Although the explanation about the quad seemed rushed, we enjoyed the first hour on the road. Unfortunately, everything went wrong after that. The driver of the quad in front of us suddenly started braking and skidded. At that moment, we knew we wouldn't be able to stop in time. We were convinced that we would collide with the quad in front of us, and eventually, we were both thrown off the quad. We were shocked and had significant injuries on our bodies. One of us had back and hip pain, while the other had difficulty standing on her legs and felt very dizzy. We immediately asked for a taxi or medical help, but no one listened to us. The people organizing the tour said that nothing was wrong and that we could just ride with other participants to finish the tour. According to them, it would only take another 20 minutes. We felt helpless and had no way out. We were in the middle of the mountains at that time, filled with fear and shock, and reluctantly decided to follow their instructions due to a lack of alternatives, despite repeatedly expressing our desire to leave. Sitting on the quad with a stranger, we felt dizzy and feared passing out. We rode on paved and unpaved roads. Every bump and pothole was felt in our bodies. It was a nightmare! As we sat there, the realization of what had happened slowly sank in. We were clearly in a state of shock, shivering in 25-degree weather. We also didn't know what awaited us. Eventually, we arrived at a viewpoint where everyone was going to enjoy the sunset. At that moment, we were the only ones left with the quad. Walking was barely possible, and it caused intense pain. One of the organizers brought us water upon our request, and the other began treating our wounds with some supplies they had. It was very painful. At that moment, we once again expressed our desire to leave, but it was ignored once again. Furthermore, we must mention that the organizers made sexist comments, including remarks about the nice buttocks I had (I had to hold up my shorts so that the wounds wouldn't stick to my pants). One of the organizers named Stan claimed that they were all superficial abrasions and that we should just go into the sea the next day, and everything would be fine, and the wounds would heal quickly. We were forced to finish the tour... upon returning to the starting point (several hours after the accident), we had to pay €280 for the quad's damage. When the contactless payment didn't work at once, Stan wanted us to pay in cash. He said he wanted to make sure we could drive ourselves home and even went with us to an ATM. All we wanted was to be able to go home as quickly as possible, so we reluctantly agreed to withdraw the money in cash. Once home, we stood under the shower to clean our wounds. The next day, we decided to see a doctor; the symptoms were getting worse, and we wanted to be examined by professionals. To our surprise, the wounds turned out to be much more severe than what the tour organizers had thought. Walking was extremely difficult, and our bodies were bruised from the fall. One of us also had neck and hip pain. We had to visit the doctor multiple times to have our wounds treated and checked. A hip X-ray was also taken. One of the wounds even got infected, and antibiotics were prescribed. Going into the water was out of the question due to the infected wounds. This terrible incident overshadowed our entire vacation. It was never determined if we had internal injuries by the organizers of this tour. Dizziness is not a good sign outside of the visible physical wounds we had. It is absolutely unacceptable for a tour organizer to act in such a irresponsible manner. It is unthinkable that they left us to our own devices and prioritized commercial interests over our health. A tour organizer should have insurance coverage for accidents, and the fact that they made us pay in cash, as young and shocked women, is beyond acceptable limits. We are considering taking legal action against this company and filing a complaint with Tripadvisor. Such practices should not go unpunished!
  • All great fun , my wife went on the back of my daughters bike , and frightened the life out of her , it was hilarious , this is great value for money , don’t wear good clothes, you will get filthy , definitely recommend
  • I really enjoyed the quad safari! Really kind tour guide. Also beautiful view. I enjoyed the food and people at the cool village Nice sunset
  • Could not recommend this more. Honestly the highlight of our trip, was so much fun. The tour guide was very fun and knowledgeable. The views are absolutely spectacular and they take you to the most remote villages and mountains where you aren’t surrounded by any tourists. We were even able to taste some local foods for free aswell as watch the sunset with a drink. Thank you guys!! (free shot afterwards too ;)))
  • Amazing trip with great views of Crete, staff were friendly and welcoming which made the trip even better would definitely recommend!
  • Was really good I definitely recommend!! Beautiful views & great tour guide! Was a fantastic experience.
  • Good trip, enjoyed it. Felt that there was a lot of talking in the ghost town segment when we could’ve been riding and driving the quads though. Providing a bottle of water may help too.
  • Seeing Ghost Villages & Wildlife Nature in the Mountains of Peninsula on a rainy day - was just priceless & memorable. Scenery was so amazing 😻
  • Really great adventure, the views were amazing, funny guides. The transfer back to our hotel was included and very prompt. A mix of roads, off roading and rural paths. Amazing trip, really enjoyed!
  • Had a free day towards the end of the vacation and signed up on a whim. It was great time with a lot of history! A very fun way to learn about the old city and museums. Our tour guide vangelis was very funny and knowledgable. The lunch stop was also great, but not included in price. They accept card and cash though.
