  • Shin was very funny and knowledgeable about the history of atomic bombing. We had a such a great time biking through the city streets . He spent his time to explain the details of each historic sites along with his own family history as well.
  • WOW, this has been our best tour so far in Japan. Shin is an amazing guide with great knowledge of Hiroshima and is the son & grandson of survivors from the A bomb. He has great stories from his family about the day the bomb was dropped, which are heart reaching but must be heard by as many people as possible. We would recommend to everyone who visits Hiroshima to do this tour, I think some world leaders also need to attend. This really does bring home to everyone why we should remove all Nuclear weapons from the planet and stop all wars.
  • Very interesting experience to hear the story of the bomb with a local person. The guide was really good at explaining and very funny. I would suggest this tour to all person coming to visit Hiroshima
  • What an experience. Shin was extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to about various subjects on Hiroshima and the atomic bomb explosion. He gave some excellent stories from his own family’s experience that really gave the tour and history some depth. I’d highly recommend taking this tour if in Hiroshima!
  • Absolutely loved the cycling tour by Shin! It was such a great way to get to know the city on Day 1, with personal stories and the history behind key spots. Shin was very each to get along with, we even ended up chatting about our own experiences travelling around!
  • When I visited Hiroshima in September 2021, I was disappointed that the Memorial Museum was closed due to COVID. So I thought I would instead like to learn about the history of the city from a local guide, and the bicycle tour looked like a great way to do that. My guide Shin was so friendly, and actually because I was travelling solo, it was really great to be shown around by a local. I was glad to hear Shin's personal stories and about the experiences of his family at the time of the atomic bomb. Even though it is a very emotional and difficult subject, I am so grateful that I could learn about it in such a personal way through Shin. We were very lucky to have a lovely sunny day for the bicycle tour. I had already done a lot of walking and cycling on my trip, and I was worried about overdoing it - but thanks to the electric bikes I did not have to exhaust myself. Shin always gave me time to stop and take photos when I asked. I highly recommend it! Please support Sokoiko!
  • Shin was an awesome tour guide and provided us a wealth of information about the tragedies and triumphs that happened in Hiroshima. He kept things interesting, showed us important landmarks that we never even knew about, and his stories of the first hand experiences that his family faced during that time were intriguing. We all enjoyed touring Hiroshima on a bike and now my son refers to him as Darth Shin (he’s into Star Wars). Needless to say, they developed a bond rather quickly. We definitely recommend Shin as a tour guide and would happily take another tour with him again.
  • This tour gives an opportunity to cycle around Hiroshima learning about the aftermath of the Atomic bomb and the impact on the citizens of Japan. The tour was very knowledgeable on the topic. I learned a lot about the history of the Atomic bomb and I appreciate what the symbolism of the effects were. I highly recommend this tour if you are into cycling and history!
  • Our family has fallen in love with Hiroshima and the people who live here during our custom 4 hour tour. Our guide, Shin, was so thoughtful, fun, and knowledgeable. Our two young girls, ages 4 and 6, were able to ride on the back our our bike in kids seats. They had such a fun time exploring the city and Shin made them laugh all the time. The e-bikes were easy to use and made for getting around the city a breeze. We saw many wonderful sights of the city, but our favorite was the meal. Shin took us to a local okonomiyaki restaurant in it's third generation. The owner and his wife were incredibly kind and gracious and after our meal invited us to make paper cranes and we left with gifts for our children and ourselves. It was simply amazing and so delicious. Thank you Shin for sharing your amazing city with us. We are still smiling! Please book a tour, you won't regret it! (Restaurant was 赤とんぼ"Akatonbo" - Red Dragonfly - go and say hello!)
  • I had such a great time! My tour guide, Yui, was so kind and friendly! Plus she took a couple of pictures for me! The she told the story of Hiroshima beautifully! It was such a fun and easy way to explore the city! The electric bike is basically effortless! I highly recommend this tour!
  • My tour guide was Yui who was absolutely amazing, her English is flawless for any foreign travellers. It was fascinating to learn the history from a local. I felt we got to explore many more unknown spots and monuments you wouldn’t find in guidebook or websites and hear anecdotes only someone who has grown up in the city would know. The cycle route was so lovely all along the river after exploring the peace gardens and let’s you explore more of the city than you usually would. Would 100% recommend on a trip to Hiroshima!
  • We were two couples on tour & we really enjoyed everything about our tour from the very easy to ride electric bikes, to where we visited & of course our guides. We had May & Yuri who were both extremely friendly ladies. The reason for our 9 out of 10 was that at times we did struggle to understand May...we totally acknowledge that if we could speak Japanese then communicating would not have been an issue. Yuri’s English was fantastic & we hope that May’s will continue to improve as she is just delightful & so passionate about the city she was born in. Would highly recommend the tour!
  • Great tour! We would recommend it to anyone. Tomomi was a superb tour guide. She explained all the monuments, and made the tour meaningful. We would never have found all of those things on our own. We didn't expect the electric bikes but it worked out really well; we got to see a lot more sites in 3 hours then we would have walking the whole day. We went with 2 children 12/7, and they loved it as well.
  • The tour with Shin was very informative and it was awesome to get to see the sights around the lovely city of Hiroshima. Thanks Shin for searing the story of your city and your family
  • Absolutely amazing. Tomomi our guide was fantastic. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wishing to learn more about Hiroshima and all its beauty. How the bomb affected the city and how it was built back up. Thank you Tomomi for your personal stories and funny loving nature.
  • We were feeling rather hard done by what with all the history museums being closed for coronavirus and therefore not able to learn about the history of Hiroshima. Then this dream tour appeared with our excellent guide Shin (& his superb English plus excellent sense of humour) and his assistant Yui, where we went all over the city on e-bikes and learnt as much as we could about what had happened during that dreadful time back in August 1945.
  • Absolutely loved this tour. Our guide "Shin" was wonderful - colourful character, huge personality and made the tour even more interesting. Lots of local personal stories about the Hiroshima bombing, ride through Peace Park, and lots of other Hiroshima top sights. Cycling on an E-Bike is super easy and makes the tour really pleasant rather than a chore. Its a sobering experience to visit Hiroshima but a very worthwhile one.
  • May's knowledge and passion for sharing hiroshima's history was amazing with several sites we visited not readily mentioned in online tour guides. May was also very happy to give tips and pointers on the best places to see and eat at to get the most out of your Japan trip. Definitely recommended for everyone
  • A local guide from Hiroshima will tell you about the dark history of the atomic bombing and how the people dealt with it, with a family story. It's also fascinating to explore the lesser-known heritage that can only be visited by bicycles, not the major spots listed in the guidebook. It is a wonderful tour to learn the value of peace.
  • They claim, that you will receive an email if the tour gets cancelled due to bad weather, but I spend the morning trying to contact them, because I was wondering if the tour was held as it rained. When my hotel finally got a hold of them, they said the tour was cancelled. The weather forecast had been promising rain on that day for several days, therefore they should have contacted the day before as they promise in their description. Terrible service and I will not be using them again.
  • Thank you Yui for a fantastic day. Yui's message reinforced the thinking of the mayor back in 1945 in that we want peace, not retaliation. The day got off to a great start by leaving on time. There was just Yui, my wife and myself. A quick introduction into how to use the electric bike (makes cycling a breeze for those who may not be that fit) and we were on our way. 13km and 3 hrs (time flew) later, we had visited so many significant monuments to the bombing - the Dome, the Museum (visited this after the tour), Sadako (Children's Peace monument) and trees which were destroyed but new growth sprouted (akin to what happened in society) and many more.
  • Thank you May, you gave us interesting information and heartwarming stories we would not have known otherwise. Riding through the city is a beautiful way to take it all in.
  • We had Yui who was fantastic - super knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. The electric bikes are also a great way to see a lot of the city especially if you're only staying for a short time. Yui gave us a lot of insight into Hiroshima's culture and history, and also took us to scenic locations which was perfect for picture-taking. Highly recommend!
  • This is not only an A-bomb relics tour but also a peace educational tour which everybody in the world should know in fun way. Also Toby is a perfect guide who could tell us personal peace stories which we did not expected. Thank you!!
