Stop At: Addo Elephant National Park, Addo Elephant National Park, Greater Addo, Eastern Cape

Addo Elephant National Park - Home to the 'Big 5' and one of the densest Elephant populations in Africa. Addo offers unrivaled biodiversity and a magnificent game viewing experience in a Malaria free environment.

Spend a full day exploring the 3rd largest National Park in South Africa with our expert guides!

The original elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area. Today this finely-tuned ecosystem is home to one of the densest elephant populations on earth, with over 600 elephant, lion, buffalo, the endangered black rhino, spotted hyena, leopard, a variety of antelope and zebra species, as well as the unique Addo flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. The park can exclusively claim to be the only national park in the world to conserve the “Big 7” – the Big 5 as well as the southern right whale and great white shark off the Algoa Bay coast.

Duration: 8 hours

  • Was really good - would have loved to do more animal spotting. It's enough i don't want to add something else
  • Picked up at the cruise port and taken to Addo park , saw plenty of animals and had an excellent Brie (bbq) excellent guide and chef in wanele ,
  • A nice safari during which we saw elefants, zebras, buffalos, lions, warthogs, ostrich... We were 6 + driver in a minivan, so there was a good possibility to take pictures to both sides. We also had a nice lunch with out fellow guests. The driver was nice and helpful. The elefants and zebras you could find close to the van, but the lions were quite far, so I recommend a camera with a long-focus lens if possible (I had a 70-200 and 100-400). The starting time had changed from 9 to 7.30 am the night before and as we didn't have access to whatsapp then we had missed this info. Fortunatelly we got a phone call at 8.10 to ask where we were. Hakuna Matata in the end though. :)
  • We did the full day tour with Afroventures to Addo Elephant National Park leaving from our Cruise ship. Our guide (king) Elvis was great. On route to the park we were informed about the day ahead and what we might see. He proved knowledgeable about the park and animals and very funny. The vehicle we were in was comfortable and had big windows that opened wide for convenient photo taking. Sadly the weather was foul, with rain all day which meant the animal were under cover and although we saw other animals we saw very few elephants. The tour was well organised, we were picked up and dropped off at the port on time. Elvis was a great guide and he was as dissapointed as we all were in the vehicle that we saw so few animals.
  • All communications prior to tour were very good, prompt and clear. We were travelling on a cruise ship and found out the night before the tour that our ship was going to arrive in Port Elizabeth later than scheduled. We let them know and they messaged back to say it was ok and they would wait for us at the cruise terminal. Some fellow passengers who had booked with a different company weren't so lucky and missed their tour. Our transport was comfortable and plenty of cold water was provided. We had a really lovely day in the National Park seeing lots of different wildlife as well as numerous groups of elephants at close range. Our guide was very nice, very informative, drew our attention to lots of things that we wouldn't otherwise have noticed and prepared a very decent lunch including vegetarian options and a variety of drinks. Would definitely recommend them!
  • I really enjoyed the tour. We saw a lot of elephants and kudu, along with a few other species. Our guide was very knowledgeable, the truck was comfortable and the lunch was fantastic. They take you to an upmarket steak house and you order whatever you want from the menu, including the huge 600g steaks
  • We had a wonderfull day with our guide. Stafford was friendly and looked after us. We saw a lot of Elephants and other animals. We learned a lot about the animals who live in the park
  • Super Guide with tons of information about Flora and fauna in the NP. Highly recommended. IT was a great day in the Bush
  • We had a wonderful one-day Safari trip with our guide Stafford who knew a lot about the wildlife and good spotting locations in Addo. We were two of four people total in a nice comfortable ride, with a nice lunch and good communication regarding pickup/dropoff at our guest house in Port Elizabeth. Recommended!
  • It was an extremely amazing safari. I saw for the first time in my life many exotic animals (I come from the Italian mountains) and beautiful views. Kindly recommend King Elvis, a great guide, he is fun and full of joy, but he also has great knowledge and is very passionate in his work.
  • We had the most amazing day in Addo🤩 we saw many different animals like warthogs, tortoises, ostriches, buffaloes, bucks and A LOT OF elephants😍 but the best part of our trip was our amazing guide John, who brought laughter, great pictures and sightings and an amazing lunch to us❤️ So grateful and definetely would recommend going here even if you only have a few days in Port Elizabeth😊
  • Can't recommend John as a guide highly enough! He knows the park and where to take you, with a incredible knowledge of all the animals. Having him as a guide was the best part of my Addo trip Saw lions, elephants and loads more, got a flight to PE as the safari options around Cape Town were not so good.
  • Our guide John was very clever to park at the end of a trail that linked up to the road when he saw a elephant following that trail. The elephant came right up to our van and passed us :) what an awesome experience.
  • This was my first time going to Addo National Park. Our guide John knew more information about the area than the flyers which we received. He was very funny and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed every single second of the tour and will definitely be coming back with more friends and family.
  • Best Therapeutical Session while viewing nature at its best. Amazing vegetation, cute, adorable, healthy, happy and relaxed animals. John the best tour Guide highly skilled and professional. The 2 female lions 🦁 made my day. I highly recommend this place, friendly staff, punctual, attentive. Best Lunch ever, meat soft and tender
  • We could spontaneously book our trip for two on the phone. Very costumer-oriented service with pick up and drop off at the apartment. Lunch, wine was included in the price. Our guide Stafford gave us some information on the park, his daily experiences and some hints on different animals. He also brought binoculars with him for us to share. Of course, external guides do not have the same insights and information as guides and rangers from private reserves within the park, which may result in you seeing not all animals you wanted to see, as there are for example only 4 lions around which stick together. But pricing is of course also more affordable than booking a night or two in the private reserve.
  • What an amazing trip it was! Elvis was a very passionate guide with a lot of knowledge ! He spots all the animals. I can very much recommend this safari trip.
  • We had a great time on the Full Day Safari to the Addo with Afroventures. Our guide Elvis was very friendly and informative. The vehicle had big windows that we could open during the safari, so we could take great pictures and enjoy some fresh air. For lunch we had a delicious and plentiful braai that was included in the price. We would definitely recommend experiencing the Addo on a safari with Afroventures!
  • If you're in Port Elizabeth, Addo Elephant Park is a must. The park is very close to PE, only about 45 minutes driving time. The scenery is beautiful, mountains and hills around you, with the coast and sand dunes in the distance. In terms of wildlife, I've never seen so many elephants before in my life. Even on a scorching hot day, we saw elands, buffalo, zebras, monkeys, warhogs, mongoose, and plenty of kudu. My guide, John, was incredibly knowledgeable about both the park and the wildlife, and he helped make the tour very enjoyable. He allowed for plenty of time to take photos and videos. Thank you to John for a fantastic experience! I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone.
  • King Elvis was a great guide. We saw lots of animals and it was a great day. We were lucky to see 3 female lions.
  • We enjoyed our safari to Addo Elephant Park with Afroventures. Our guide was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The lunch was exceptional on our full day tour and it added to an overall wonderful experience. We truly recommend this when in Port Elizabeth.
  • I did the full day tour with afroventures to Addo Elephant National Park. The tour started from my hostel which was a plus and our guide (king) Elvis was delightful. On route to the park we were told informed about some of the history of PE and in the park Elvis proved a knowledgeable and very funny guide with a keen eye for spotting wildlife. The car we were in was comfortable and had big windows that opened wide for convenient photo taking opportunities. The provided lunch was plentiful and delicious. We saw many elephants, buffaloes, zebras, kudus, red hartebeests and many more. Sadly no feline animals for us but we absolutely got our moneys worth and have a splendid day to look back. Would fully recommend this tour and try to get Elvis as your guide because he will make sure you have a great time.
  • Such an amazing day in Addo, we saw many animals thanks to King Elvis, thank you for this memorable moment.
  • Great full day safari, can fully recommend it, Very qualified and friendly guide - King Elvis - excellent spotter. All told a perfect day...
