Stop At: Colosseum, Piazza del Colosseo, 00184 Rome Italy

Your journey into antiquity begins with the Colosseum, one of the world’s most iconic sights. Your guide will call on their historical and archaeological expertise to tell you all about the battles, both physical and political, that played out in this incredible amphitheater. You might be surprised to learn that ‘Gladiator’ didn’t get everything right and that feats of ancient engineering even allowed the Romans to re-enact naval battles here.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Palatine Hill, Piazza Santa Maria Nova, 53, 00186 Rome Italy

The next stop takes you back to the very beginning. The Palatine Hill is the spot Romulus chose to found the city that would become Rome in 753 BC – a decision that ended in tragedy for his brother Remus. Here, steeped in history, you’ll enjoy spectacular views overlooking your next destination: the Roman Forum.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Roman Forum, Largo della Salara Vecchia 5/6, 00186 Rome Italy

The Forum and the Via Sacra, the Sacred Way, were the heart of Ancient Rome. All of Roman life could be found in this bustling marketplace: commerce and trade, political rallies, military parades, and the sacred ceremonies of the Vestal Virgins.

In just three hours, you’ll experience all that allowed Rome to endure so long – staying immersed in history the entire time, without wasting a moment waiting in line.

Duration: 30 minutes

  • The excellent tours giide. She made ancient Rome through her imagination come alive for me. It was as though I was back im time. Thank you
  • Giuseppe was knowledgeable, friendly and we'll organized. Great experience at the coloseo and would recommend for anyone traveling to Rome
  • This was by far the best tour we took, mostly because of Alexander, our tour guide. His first-hand knowledge added a special dimension to the history he shared. While explaining the history, he put everything in context of the politics and lifestyles of the times. He was very engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and willing to answer all questions. We learned so much on this tour, many things we will never forget. The pace of the tour was perfect, and Alexander allowed many opportunities for photos. We never once felt rushed. If you can book this tour and request Alexander, you will not be disappointed.
  • Very knowledgeable and humorous guide. He did everything to make our experience memorable. He knew every question we had and answered well
  • I reserved the skip-the-line small group tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palatine Hill for 2 with City Wonders on Aug 31st and paid $99.90. When we arrived at the meeting point for the tour on Sept 10th, we learned that our tour had been cancelled. I did not receive an email, text or WhatsUp informing me of the cancellation, just surprise! My $100 were never refunded, and trying to contact TripAdviser is like trying to contact the Pope: not possible. I would like to receive a refund for the cancelled tour, any clue how to go about it?
  • We had a fantastic tour guide (I didn't catch her name but she was Irish!). She was welcoming, friendly and funny, and didn't make anyone feel rushed at any time. We had plenty of opportunity to take photos and ask questions, and her knowledge of the Colosseum and Roman Forum was amazing. We really enjoyed our tour and would highly recommend to others. We did it at 9am on a Saturday morning which meant it was definitely quieter than on other days, and early in the morning also seemed to help with this. If you're in two minds whether it's worth paying for this tour, it definitely is!
  • We had a very nice tour of the Roman forum and the surrounding area. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and informative.
  • I'm glad I took the 0900 tour because by the end of the 3hrs, it was getting warm. A lot of history. Sometimes Anna would mumble making it hard to understand her. Had 2 bathroom breaks and could also buy drinks. Interesting seeing the inside of the Colussem.
  • our guide Viola was excellent. very knowledgeable and explained a lot of the history and timeline of Colosseum developement. she looked after us pacing our progress and finding shade and water. we really enjoyed and appreciatedd her efforts. withoout a knowledgeable guide you would just be wwondering around!
  • Emanuela M is outstanding!!! She is a great story teller of so much history! She has a gift to keep you engaged in everything she has to tell. Plus she is so adorable and a delight to be around. Be sure to wear your most comfy shoes, there is a lot of ground to cover.
  • Kind and knowledgeable guide. Fascinating information. Our 9 and 12 year old were engaged and asking questions. Loved it.
  • Tour was excellent, our guide, Amal, was informative, knowledgeable, friendly and funny too! Would definitely recommend
  • We were so fortunate our tour today was led by Alessandro, an archeologist. The Colosseum and other places we visited are beyond fascinating. Our tour guide brought it to all life with non-stop stories to give us a deeper understanding and appreciation of Roman history and life. It was the perfect tour to kick off our first trip to Rome!
  • Tour was so interesting and our guide Massimo was brilliant, kept you engaged and told stories and information so well!
  • This was a fascinating insight into a bygone age and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It surprised me just how busy it was and at times it made listening to the guide difficult. However, it is a site not to be missed. Only downside is if you miss the toilet at the beginning, your next opportunity is in the Forum and there was one toilet for M and one for F, so the queue was a long one!
  • Highly recommended! Our tour guy was Eddy. He was excellent and very knowledgeable, explained everything and took his time with details.
  • Our guide Amil was outstanding! She was the best guide we had during our month-long trip. She was knowledgeable, friendly, very passionate about history and kept everyone entertained and laughing. She brought photos and drawings to illustrate her explanations and kept everyone engaged the whole 3 hours. My boys 9, 11, and 13 years old loved the tour! It was a very hot, sunny day, and Amil made sure we all had enough water at all times, and had us stop in shade when she explained, which we greatly appreciated. Also, she took us to the best photo spots and took photos of every group. Last but not least, her English is spotless. Definitely recommend this tour and I hope you get her as a guide!
  • Eddy the tour guide was great To be able to experience this wonderful tour with an archaeologist made it all the better
  • The Colosseum tour with Barbara was excellent and informative. We really were immersed in the history of the famous Colosseum. Would recommend this tour guide.
  • The tour was about 2/3 complete when several of us got separated from the tour. We missed the last part of the tour.
  • Great tour and very informative guide! I learned tao much Roman history in this tour. The narration equipment worked very well for us too.
  • Nick our guide was great and very knowledgeable. He answered all our questions and did it with great passion. Having him was a pleasure.
  • This tour is full of history and definitely worth doing when in Rome. Great tour guide, would recommend this. Watch the film Gladiator before going 😁
  • Emmanuela was our guide and she was so knowledgeable, very friendly, fun, full of interesting stories. I had been to the Forum 50 years ago and was stunned to see how much it had changed. She made the stories come alive! It was a wonderful, rich experience.
