Stop At: Colosseum, Piazza del Colosseo, 00184 Rome Italy

Your journey into antiquity begins with the Colosseum, one of the world’s most iconic sights. Your guide will call on their historical and archaeological expertise to tell you all about the battles, both physical and political, that played out in this incredible amphitheater. You might be surprised to learn that ‘Gladiator’ didn’t get everything right and that feats of ancient engineering even allowed the Romans to re-enact naval battles here.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Palatine Hill, Piazza Santa Maria Nova, 53, 00186 Rome Italy

The next stop takes you back to the very beginning. The Palatine Hill is the spot Romulus chose to found the city that would become Rome in 753 BC – a decision that ended in tragedy for his brother Remus. Here, steeped in history, you’ll enjoy spectacular views overlooking your next destination: the Roman Forum.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Roman Forum, Largo della Salara Vecchia 5/6, 00186 Rome Italy

The Forum and the Via Sacra, the Sacred Way, were the heart of Ancient Rome. All of Roman life could be found in this bustling marketplace: commerce and trade, political rallies, military parades, and the sacred ceremonies of the Vestal Virgins.

In just three hours, you’ll experience all that allowed Rome to endure so long – staying immersed in history the entire time, without wasting a moment waiting in line.

Duration: 30 minutes

  • Simon our guide was very knowledgeable, would definitely recommend this tour rather than going round on your own as we found out a lot of interesting things
  • Tour guide ended the tour at the Coliseum + left us to tour The Forum/Paletine Hill on our own... No reason was given. VERY disappointed. Viator has refused Refund Request. I will now dispute with Credit Card Company.
  • been before with this company.organised and knowledgeable guide made the experience very good lots of points of interest explained woould highly recommend
  • This was a wonderful tour . The guide Sarah was very informative and knowledgeable. We could skip the huge queue and save time . It was worth the money spent. Shall certainly recommend this tour to friends and relatives.
  • We booked these tickets weeks in advance. Given how many tickets have been bought up by your companies, and how tight travel plans can be, this wasn’t very easy. They cancelled our tickets the night before.. so terrible. Book with a more trusted provider
  • Great tour, Umbra was very informative and engaging. Got to see the colosseum and the Roman Forum, as well as the old palace!
  • Had a nightmare experience with Viator! Viator and co. seemed like they overbooked our May 13, 2023 tour group and they split us up with the main group to get in the Colosseum but they lost us once inside Colosseum. Our 4 people group spent our time inside the Colosseum looking for Carlo (our tour guide) instead of enjoying it. Asked for a full refund and still hoping that Viator will reconsider their decision and give us a full refund. This is supposed to be the highlight of our Rome vacation but turned out to be a disaster.
  • Excellent tour! Very engaging and insightful. Would highly recommend! Our guide was very knowledgable!
  • What a fabulous tour guide we had in Gulia, she was so knowledgeable, and did not stop giving us information, she was friendly , helpful, even when we lost someone , I can’t Recommend City Wonders Ltd and Gulia enough , they made our experience of the coliseum and the surrounding areas the best it could be. Thank you
  • What an incredible tour in every way! Our guide Silvia was exceptional and made the whole tour fun, interesting and completely memorable. Her knowledge was incredible, wonderful English and topped off with a great sense of humour. We’ll never forget the morning which was seamless, completely hassle-free and excellent value for money.
  • Loved it Brenda was amazing and the whole trip was fantastic The whole trip was amazing The views of the palatine hill Was well Worth it
  • What a shocker. Our guide tried hard but he had bored the majority of our group into a stupor by the ten minute mark. Although the forum was open there was no attempt to enter, we were not taken anywhere near Palatine Hill as promised in the booking information and if we didn’t have to return the audio headsets at the conclusion we would have abandoned the tour. A self guided tour would be a much better option
  • Maria was our guide and she was wonderful. This tour is great but do it in the morning! we did it after the Vatican tour and it was too much for us 😅 We walked around 20,000+ steps between the two tours. You will do a line with all the other groups but you will be inside the Colosseum within 15min (So I guess u won't skip the line no matter what tour you book). This tour was enough for us approximately 3 hours walking.
  • It was just ok we learned a lot but the guide kept getting too far ahead and we lost him a few times.
  • This is a must see. Around every corner was another OMG! Great tour, great guide. Maria Luisa was well informed and shared pictures of what the area would have looked like compared to ruins we were looking at. Had a lot of archaeological knowledge. We did Roman Forum first, then Palatine Hill, then Colosseum. Other group at our time did opposite. 9 am tour was worth getting up early for. Beat some of the crowds and cooler temps.
  • Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. It was a hot day and she took this into account. We felt we received an excellent insight into the history of Rome.
  • Our guide was amazing!!! I wish we could have seen more of the colosseum like the underground but overall it was great
  • The tour was amazing. Alessandro was our guide and he knew so much! I can only recommend! I do recommend wearing toe-closed shows you can walk a lot in.
  • Great overall experience. Our guide. Maria Luisa, was very informative, personable, and engaging. The only thing I didn’t like was that at the beginning of the tour (our 2:30pm start time), everyone was given time time for a toilet break which ended up cutting into 20 mins/half an hour of our tour as the lines for the colosseum bathrooms were really long. I think it would be more effective to tell people to go to the bathroom in advance so that everyone can be prepared (and still do the bathroom stop in the middle of the tour). This way, everyone can plan their day and “make up” that time with an earlier finish.
  • The guide and the folks who help get everyone in their groups were super helpful. It was great to go to these places - I was hoping palatine hill was a little more involved but it was kind of - here you go walk around.
  • We had a great tour guide who was very passionate and knowledgable about Roma! Please note this your does not include walking below the arena, but you can view the arena “basement” from the arena pass option which was awesome—highly recommend. Book an early or late tour as midday is very hot and there is quite a bit of walking/stairs involved.
  • Figure out transportation ahead of time and if you are not on time they will leave and they will not work things out with you.
  • Awful experiences! Bought ticket for Green Line bus and waited over 2.25 minutes. Finally bought ticket on Greyline. Made it to Coliseum with 10 minutes to spare, only to find that Coliseum tour was a 15-20 minute walk away!!! Missed the tour and had to buy a ticket for a different tour group!!!
  • Experiencing the Colosseum first hand and walking through the Roman Forum gave us a new appreciation for the history in Rome.
