Walkthrough the Gallery of the Maps and Gallery of Tapestries as you listen to tales of Vatican intrigue. Gaze at artifacts such as timeworn yet fascinating Italian maps, and admire the sculptures and candelabras of the Gallery of Candelabras. Stop for photos in front of the Pigna statue in the Pinecone Courtyard, designed by Dontao Bramante.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Sistine Chapel, Viale Vaticano, 00165 Vatican City Italy

Pass through the rooms, and then step inside the Sistine Chapel — the pope’s personal place of worship and a highlight of any Vatican trip. Stand beneath Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, which cloaks the ceiling, and admire The Last Judgement, his colorful mural that adorns a wall.

Stop At: St. Peter's Basilica, Piazza San Pietro, 00120 Vatican City Italy

After your Sistine Chapel visit, continue with your guide to St Peter’s Basilica to explore the symbolic heart of the Catholic church. Learn about its history and see more Vatican art including Michelangelo’s La Pietà, which was sculpted when the maestro was only 24 years old. Gaze at the baldachino by Bernini, and then say goodbye to your guide in St Peter’s Square.

Keep in mind that St Peter's Basilica and St Peter's Square might be unavailable on Wednesdays due to the weekly Papal Audience. As an alternative, you'll be offered an extended itinerary within the Vatican Museums.

  • Our guide, Iladra, was fabulous. The depth and detail of her knowledge was fantastic! This was a wonderful experience.
  • Seeing the spectacular art. It is amazing and breathtaking. Lits to see tour guide very knowledgeable and nice. Waits weren't too bad being on a tour compared to go alone.
  • Sarah was knowledgeable, organized, and patient. She made the experience a lot less stressful as the whole place was filled with people. The Vatican is absolutely stunning.
  • Great way to skip the lines and see the Vatican and other museums. Our guide was very knowledgeable and professional. The audio equipment worked well, so we could hear the information in a very crowded environment.
  • Salvatore was amazing..knew everything. He was on time and kept the tour on time. Very knowledgeable
  • The tour guide Laura was terrific. Nice lady and very knowledgable. The tour of the Vatican was terrible. The tour consists of walking through various halls and rooms which leads to the Sistine Chapel. They stuff people into the halls and rooms. In some of the rooms there were wall to wall people and you couldn't walk without the person in front of you moving. There is no air conditioning and very little ventilation. The tour guide said that the day before was hotter and people were passing out. The Sistine Chapel was packed with people and the Vatican officials were yelling at people to constantly keep moving. OTOH St Peter's is mazing. Not crowded and the sculptures are beautiful. There are tours which I wish we would have taken.
  • One of the best tours we have done. The guide was amazing and honestly kept going above and beyond for all of us. If you had a question he was more than knowledgeable. Be prepared to walk in some comfy shoes, but worth the tour
  • Was supposed to be a small group; was more like 30+people. Apparently a guide was sick that day. Our earpieces did not work despite the guides’ multiple attempts to fix things. No one on the tour could hear what the guide was saying. Disappointing to say the least.
  • Beautiful experience with an amazing tour guide. Alexandria was incredible, very knowledgeable and friendly.
  • Amazing! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the Vatican was just beautiful. A little crowded but and a lot of walking but it was all worth it. The inside was very well ventilated as well and breezy.
  • The tour guide herself, was amazing. But I believe she worked directly for the Vatican museum. We did not get to see Saint Peter’s Basilica which my wife and I were very upset about because we ended up having to book a whole other tour for that. The only reason this is getting three stars is because of the tour guide.
  • Chiara was the best tour guide we have ever had. She was so knowledgeable and interesting. Very qualified. She brought us to tears many times with her passion for art and history. Could not be more pleased. She made our experience at the Vatican extremely special and memorable.
  • We had an amazing tour with Elise. She was so knowledgeable and we learned so much. This was a very energetic tour of the Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s. Elise was the best tour guide.
  • Our guide marina was amazing very good at captivating our group. Spoke very clearly overall the tour was great and worth doing!
  • To start, our tour guide, Cassini, was wonderful, knowledgeable, and a natural with people. The tour company was short staffed, so put us into very large groups. It was a very crowded day and navigating the Vatican was a challenge (not company’s fault). We were very rushed from the middle of our tour and only got to spend 5 MINUTES in Sistine Chapel!!! We then pushed with a crowd through a small doorway (was very dangerous) so that we could rush to the Basilica before they closed the door. Overall it was not a good experience because you didn’t get to appreciate the visit. Felt like the artwork was a blur.
  • Very informative. Our guide was excellent; she brought soucj rich and interesting detail to the tour. Highly recommend!
  • Our tour guide was knowledgeable, friendly and organized. So much history and beauty…we learned a lot and met some very nice people as well.
  • Our taxi was a no show. We are aged 75, 76, & 86. We ran the 1 1/2 miles to get to the meeting place. We got there two minutes late but they did not wait for us. We had to purchase additional tickets and wait two hours to get in.
  • Our tour guide was AMAZING. Could never imagine doesn’t this tour without the knowledge of a guide. At every stop and turn he gave in depth history and explanation of purpose.
  • Unfortunately we started late because we waited in the heat outside the office for 4 people of our group-2 of whom didn’t show. The wait was an extra 35 minutes. The walk through the museum was “fast and furious” as too many people from other groups were there- shoulder to shoulder and wall to wall. We spent more time looking for the guide’s flag so we could keep up than looking at the art. The same was true through the Sistine Chapel. Oh I wish I could’ve looked at the entire ceiling- but we’re told to keep moving by the attendants. When it came time to go into the basilica- our guide said goodbye- his time was up! We walked in by ourselves to look around- it would have been better to watch a YouTube video.
  • Our tour guide, Iman, was absolutely terrific. A huge knowledge of history and so friendly and personable in this delivery. Iman really made the tour wonderful.
  • Beautiful, magnificent, informative. Our tour guide was excellent. Wish there was more time to take more pictures.
  • What an awesome place and what a disappointing tour. Our group, which was supposed to be limited to 20 was closer to 30. Our guide only seemed interested in keeping us moving and spent very little time explaining what we were seeing. Lots of comments from her like "this is old...100 years older than Christ" with no explanation as to what we were seeing. The headset equipment she provided kept cutting out once she got more than 10 feet away (not just for us...everyone on the tour was experiencing this). We had been so looking forward to this tour and the experience was such a let down. It would have been much better if we had done a self guided tour. I would never recommend this company. We were turned loose to wander St. Peter's Basilica on our own, which frankly was a much better way to see it. Long story short...go to the Vatican but don't use this company.
  • Ilaria was our guide tour today, she was very informative and it was an amazing experience. Thank you 😁
