We cruise into the Jordaan, a neighbourhood known for its famous Prinsengracht towards the most romantic Magere Brug (English: Skinny Bridge – we will work on your Dutch pronunciation later), the Amstel river, the 7 bridges, the impressive Golden Bend, and then past the nine streets back to the Anne Frank House.

Due to a lack of money, the church became increasingly decayed in the course of the 20th century. For more than twenty-five years the building has been packed because the monumental façade had become detached. This danger has since disappeared. De Duif reopened in 2002 after an intensive restoration. During that restoration, the original murals were reappeared under layers of wall paint.

The present church owes its name to a predecessor, the 17th-century hiding church 'Het Vrededuifje' that once stood on the Kerkstraat. The first stone for the current Duifkerk, designed by Leiden architect Th. Molkenboer was laid in April 1857.
Due to a lack of money, the church became increasingly decayed in the course of the 20th century. For more than twenty-five years the building has been packed because the monumental façade had become detached. This danger has since disappeared. De Duif reopened in 2002 after an intensive restoration. During that restoration, the original murals were reappeared under layers of wall paint.

Although weather was horrendous customers were left to fend for themselves trying to close plastic covers on windows and many of us were drenched with rain. The two guides were very unprofessional and even cursed in front of my daughter. Very poor show after a lovely experience in the past.

The cheese was delicious, drink options plentiful, and we all learned something about Amsterdam. It was a perfect balance because the guides didn’t talk the whole time and let us enjoy the scenery, but they answered all our questions and gave us really important cultural/historic information. JHK and Boss were the best!

They gave us plenty of good information and lots of interesting Fun Facts, some of which were quite funny. Would probably have liked front facing seats a bit more but we chose this so, not their problem. Get your tickets online ahead of time. We made reservations for the night before but the cruise was overbooked. Amsterdam Classic called us while.e we were driving to Amsterdam from Normandy to see if we could switch. It actually worked better for us. Impressed with the personal service!
